Minnesota making it easier for electric vehicles

EV_greengrassState regulators have crafted new rules that offer drivers of electric vehicles in Minnesota discounted off-peak recharging rates.
The rules, set to go in to effect in 2015, could help more than 1.3 million households throughout the state get cheaper prices for overnight recharges.  The new rules would also help state agencies switch to electric vehicles for official fleets and encourage economic growth through the creation of construction and maintenance jobs to accommodate more charging facilities.

8 states driving initiatives to boost clean cars

electriccar_girlThere aren’t a lot of clean cars on the road today, but eight states have joined the Zero Emissions Vehicles Action Plan.

It certainly helps that half of the several hundred thousand ZEVs on the road are in those states: California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont. The plan is to boost the numbers of ZEVs, which use electricity, hydrogen fuel cells or hybrid technology, to 3.3 million by 2025.

The plan also has provisions to improve services such as charging stations to make buying a ZEV more enticing to car shoppers.
