The region with the best performance is the Northeast, reducing levels by more than 15 percent through 2011. In fact, the Northeast has the three states with the lowest emissions per capita: Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. The region also boasts two of the top five clean power states: New Hampshire and Vermont are both tops in clean power resources.
Emissions varied widely across the country. Nevada had the largest decrease: 33 percent between 2005 and 2013. Nebraska was at the bottom, with a 20 percent increase in emissions.
